Combating Spam

July 29th, 2011 Posted by admin in Site Related

Hey Everyone,

Thank you, for all the people that submit quality articles, comments, and vote.  You are making this community one of the best blog/article submission sites on the web.  Blogger Den offers a great advantage when posting blogs and articles because all of our blog links are do follow links.  These do follow links enable websites to create quality back links which in turn boosts their SEO.  With the good users come the bad and we have been targeted by multiple spammers using bots and submitting just links with no content.  Sure that works for them because they are getting their back links, but it can ruin a community.

We have already taken measures to prevent these spammers for continuing their habits by changing how articles are accepted.  Every article submitted is viewed by one of our editors and either Discarded (Spam), Queued(Requires Vote) or Published(Front Page Article).  If your article is discarded it is because it qualifies as spam.

Here is how editors qualify blogs/articles as spam

  • Just contains a link.
  • Foreign Language (Sorry right now we only support English articles)
  • Multiple articles with same content in a short span.
  • Articles that are just for business promotion. (We could not care less about you wasp removal service)

Currently, we are going through the database of users and banning all accounts that obviously abused the system.  We are confident that with the new system in place we will have a better community. A common question we have received via our contact form is, “How long will it take to get my article reviewed?”  Right now we have about a 2 hour turnaround time on all articles.  We have staff on 24/7 and our jobs include more than just article management, but it definitely is a top priority.

If you have any questions please contact us using our contact form or send us a direct email at contact@bloggerden.com

Thanks,

Nathan Marcarelli

User Avatar Settings Page Bug Finally Fixed!

May 26th, 2010 Posted by admin in Bug Fixes

I have been working on our user profile pages for a while now. I know many of you, especially new users to Blogger Den have been very eager to fill out your profile pages and set up your custom profile. Unfortunately, with the new system devised there was a bug in Google Chrome and Internet Explorer which wouldn’t allow users to upload a custom avatar.

I’m happy to say the issue was fixed earlier this morning. Just a simple issue regarding JavaScript and nested objects, should be working properly in all browsers now. I’m also glad to say Blogger Den has been growing very quickly, new users have been joining by the hundreds and the quality of submissions have been improving substantially.

Should Any new Categories be Added to Blogger Den?

March 10th, 2010 Posted by admin in Site Related

This question has been drifting around in my mind for a while, and I haven’t been able to come up with anything good. So I figured that since Blogger Den’s community has been growing so quickly, I would post the question to all of my users! Do you guys have any suggestions, ideas, complaints, or thoughts on the current category setup? Do you think there should be less, more, or anything swapped around?

February 7th, 2010 Posted by admin in Blog Related,Latest News,Site Related

So I’ve finally gotten the Blogger Den Blogg up and running! I decided to be a little fun with the name, so I’ve gone with “The Blogg”. Saying The Blogger Den Blog seems so fruitful, but The Blogg is short, sweet, and to the point in most cases.

Anyways, we’ll be hosting tons of news and updates here as the site progresses. I’ve added a small subscription box to the right in the sidebar here. If you want to get e-mail updates about anything new with the site, the latest trends on blogging, SEO, or Making Money Online I would love to see most members sign up!
